What are you most passionate about?
Movement and music ! I want to help all people move better but I love seeing woman – especially mums that feel they’ll never have ‘their old body back ‘ – gain strength and how empowering that feels. I think optimal functional movement is something that can affect everyday life, I’d love people to learn how to move better to reduce pain they might have through restrictions or lack of mobility /strength … add a great playlist and I’m in my dream job haha
Why did you decide to work in the Health Industry?
I’ve always loved fitness & moving but it really was around 10 years ago, when after years of being on medication for depression that I really began to understand the role exercise played in my life to keep me in a happy place & how if I maintained a strong practice I could potentially cut back & use exercise to manage my depression & anxiety.
This experience made me really want to learn all I could and teach others – although after much studying over the years that anxiety still kept me from teaching in the way I wanted to for years! standing up in front of people is extremely daunting ! ! but I finally got here in the end 😍
What has been the biggest challenge you have overcome in your life?
My biggest challenge without a doubt has been motherhood – I’m yet to overcome it ! It’s a daily work in progress. I had chronic PND, ending up in hospital when my youngest was 3 months old, and despite the ridiculous amount of love I felt I also felt completely and utterly alone, overwhelmed and trapped despite having an amazing support network. It’s something I’m very honest about, if it resonates with mum who’s struggling so she knows she’s not alone than that’s my job done.
If you could give one word of advice what would it be?
Don’t read baby advice books haha … and keep on moving ! Daily Always
What is the most inspiring quote you have heard?
Absorb what is useful
Discard what is not
And add what is uniquely your own.
Do you have an ethos you live by?
Honestly, just be friendly and kind – to everyone ! It’s really not that hard. We all have our bad days but kindness should non – negotiable
If you could invite any three people over for dinner (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
So hard to answer this. Not very imaginative but Dave Grohl, the man is just the epitome of cool and I’m a drum lover… then I’d invite 2 best friends who would ‘accidentally’ share it on Facebook and I’d wait for the party to begin haha
